When I drove by this restaurant and read the sign on the window I had to pull over and check it out. They have food from China, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Peru and more! The workers did not appear to be Peruvian or Chinese and so I ordered Indian and Pakistani meals mostly. Now although I did not see it mentioned on the menu, everything I ordered was exceptionally spicy. I do not mean this in a bad way at all, but if spice is a problem then be warned here and now. Now if you do like spice then you will enjoy their dishes. My head was covered in sweat, my mouth was on fire and I loved it all. It was recommended to me to have the chicken tikka dish. It looked very plain and simple, but it was full of flavor and spice (and everything nice). It was the spiciest thing I had there. I also wanted to try something from their BBQ menu and so I order the BBQ mix plate which gave me a variety of goodies to try. Finally, I tried a gyro and it was probably one of the best gyros that I have ever had; of course a bit spicy. On my goal to try different cultural foods I can say that I have tried food from Pakistan and Bangladesh.

I had been going to Ellie's for years, but lost touch when we moved to Phoenix. When we returned (much to my ongoing grief but that's another story) we found it under different management and Ellie gone. This was very sad as we were friends. Had resigned ourselves to this, when surprise, 6 months later, c/o of Yelp, specifically Vivek (thanks!) I found that she had opened a new place along with details! So we went there this past Saturday and we were greeted warmly. Ellie's niece remembered us after more than a year, and she herself gave us both hugs and lots of conversation, in between keeping up with customers! The food was just as good as we remembered. The place is nicer, cleaner and more homey. Ellie has expanded her menu to include so many different kinds of food - Pakistani/Indian, Italian, Chinese, Peruvian that it's amazing. She has a Desi chef as well as a Peruvian one. The lunch buffet will soon be up and running again, to MH's relief and delight. Ellie herself has always been very conscious about the quality of her food and very personable with the customers. I've always really appreciated the menu variety - it's the one place we can go together that satisfies me on the Italian front and him on the Desi one. Great for families and groups of friends too. he waitstaff is friendly and attentive. Ok, re: the food this time. Every entree can (IMO) do double duty for two meals. MH enjoyed his, and my sub ... in spite of what I just said ... well, it was all I could do this time to restrain myself to half - I wanted to eat the whole thing - it was that good! The desi food does tend to be on the spicy side, but you can always ask for it to be made mild. Great naans, which are a definite barometer of the quality of the food. A lot of variety for a place this size - I can't overstate this! FYI, I have some photos and menu jpgs (so you can see for yourself) in my profile - didn't know how to attach them to the review. Now that she's open closer to us I fully expect to go at least weekly. It was a wonderful experience! Go - it's so worth it!

The food is still good but in recent months I've been very disappointed in the lack of good service at lunch time. I heard that Ellie is sick so I don't know if that is the reason but I usually do take out and hot foods are piled on top of cold foods, heavy items are placed on top of lighter items which ends up crushing them & causing whatever is in them to spill out into the bag. When I asked to put the heavier things at the bottom I got a dirty look. If I don't remember to ask for condiments or utensils none are provided and there is just an overall bad attitude in the service. The other day I had a problem where I ordered & paid for an item & when I got home I discovered it was missing. I told the lady who takes the orders about it and all I got was another bad attitude, not even an apology for the inconvenience. I sincerely hope this situation changes soon or else it will cost them a lot of business. I've already seen 2 customers walk out because of the way they were treated, not to mention I used to go there every week and now I hardly go.

I am not sure how they manage to keep so many items, from so many ethnic sources on their menu - but they do. The place seemed clean and the service was acceptable. Nothing fancy, but reasonable and I would eat there again (or perhaps just take-out).

I grew up eating Indian food (or just 'food' as we call it in South London). I've been to a few places around Fort Lauderdale & have ALWAYS been disappointed. This place is fantastic. Not somewhere to go for dinner but a brilliant spot for lunch/early evening. Obviously the food wasn't spicy enough (check my previous reviews. It's NEVER spicy enough) but the flavour was incredible. And so much for such a cheap price. Also, the chicken was really high quality. So much food now in the US is just processed crap. This stuff actually tasted like meaty chicken. It's not a proper Indian/Pakistani restaurant if you're looking at Vindaloo or Korma. It's more like a half fast food joint, half Indian joint. But for what it is, it is amazing. Great staff too.

Great prices. Cheaper than any indian place nearby and better taste. Awesome $7 lunch special it comes with meal+ rice+ naan+ drink + desert. Its not super spicy like other Indian food spots, which is perfect for people who dont eat indian often. Still taste great!! Need more servers for dine in. Friendly staff, but they need to know the menu.

This is my second time here and the food is good but the service sucked so much I'm not going back. Not to be racist or anything but ne and my friends were the only white people in there and we were ignored. We ordered 3 sandwiches and only got 2, when we asked about the third they seemed to have no idea what we were talking about. Overall it was a horrible experiance and I wont be going back.

My friend brought me here and I was excited to see so many different choices. We ordered chili chicken, a steak and cheese sub, and tres leches cake. The chili chicken was not good. It came with raw bell pepper and onion, which should have been sauteed. The steak sub was good and dripping a lot of Worcestershire sauce. The dessert was the best and I wish I had another piece right now. I went again and had a aman chicken sub and aman steak sub. these were amazing and i'd def order these subs again. i prefer steak over chicken.

Excellent food and service. Tikki masala chicken was exceptional. So was chilli chicken and garlic nan. Unbelievably amazing food, best indian food in south florida.

I actually thought this was a pretty good place. Clean and nicely laid out. Definitely not your typical "South Asian" restaurant. The menu is extensive includes Peruvian,Indian Style Chinese as well as your regular Indian food. I went there for lunch and tried the Spicy chicken Sandwich which was not too bad. Unlike others, I did not have any issues with the servers. I will definitly go back and try some other goodies on the menu.

As my husband and I sat outside this restaurant I had a flashback. First time I saw this place in a tiny strip mall near my house I scoffed. The windows advertised Peruvian, Chinese, Indian, Gyros, Pakistinian, Indian, Curry, Caribbean, Italian, Pizza/Italian and wings. My husband and I laughed at the idea that one place could try to do well so many distinct cuisines. But today, I was too lazy to get gussied up and not in the mood for leftovers. On a lark/giggle I strong armed hubby to trying this place. He sat outside with me in the parking lot and kept asking if I was sure I didn't just wanna' go someplace nicer (it is not impressive looking at all from outside). If it hadn't been for the word Halal on the door I would of acquiesced. So in we went with husband grumbling about it looking scary. There was only one table occupied (Chinese older gentleman and I think a Latin woman/date-this looked promising). We were greeted by a guy behind a counter who told us to pick a seat. Inside is so much nicer than it appears from outside. Very clean and simple. The restaurant smelled amazing so hubby was already eating crow. So onto the food: Started off with Samosas: vegetable ($1) one was really good, chock full of well seasoned vegies. Meat was, also, good and very spicy. Would've liked some tamarind sauce to go along with it but I'll learn to live without. (the meat was suppose to be $1 per the menu but was a few pennies more on the receipt, not worth mentioning). Chicken papora ($9) was like a really well spiced fried chicken nugget. Very tasty! Entrees were obviously stewed for a very long time, the flavors were very deep and had time to mature/develop. Aloo Keema-very spicy tasty ground beef. Great flavor though a bit too spicy for me. Well worth chugging the xtra glasses of water necessary for me to be able to eat. Goat Karahi-awesome, husband just sat there enjoying the aromas that wafted upwards. Incredible flavor. Goat was very tender and plentiful (no need to poke amongst the sauce for pieces of meat). Naan that accompanied entrees were excellent, buttery and fluffy. Also came with tomatoes and raw onions. I was so impressed by the meal I texted 2 friend to recommend this place while I was still eating. Clientele coming in were a mix of Trinis, Pakistinians, Latins and mixed couples. Service was prompt and informal. Fast and friendly, more like a mom and pop type of affair. Great place for groups of friends to relax or families. Total meal was $37 (water and soda). Will definitely be coming back.

So I use to go to Ellie's when it was on Taft street (I think it was Taft) and despite all the negatives that place had (for those of you who went there know exactly what I'm talking about) I LOVED Their FOOD! Now they moved the to Sheridan and its now WAY CLEANER and they food is still AMAZING! I have been going there for 3 years now and to this day I can't get myself to try anything else because I'm in love with the Chicken Amaan. It is amazing, my mouth waters with just the thought! They have a variety of food and my Fiance is the one who always try different things and he is never disappointed. Try the hot sauce with the Chicken Amaan you will not be disappointed!

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.
